Line a small frankfurter with puff pastry, add two menacing little eyes and, voila, there you have a tasty and scary mummy, perfect for Halloween parties
Halloween time, scary party time! The savory treats that will delight the kids are hot-dog mummy treats: quick and easy to make, made with just a few ingredients, they are also a lot of fun to make together, parents and kids.
Remember to prepare them in adequate quantities, as they are very high in gluttony. And let the scariest party of the year begin!
Ingredients:
- 1 roll of puff pastry
- 8 frankfurters (chicken, turkey, pork or vegan)
- 1 whisked egg
- Sliced cheese and black olives to make the eyes
- Ketchup, mustard and/or mayonnaise to accompany the sausages
Preparation
- Heat the oven to 200°.
- Line a baking sheet with baking paper.
- On a cutting board, cut the frankfurters in half.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut vertically into long thin strips, about 0.5 cm wide. You need 1-2 strips for each sausage.
- Wrap the strips of dough around each sausage, creating the mummy effect.
- Brush with whisked egg, then arrange them on the baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the sausages cooked.
- Let the sausages cool a little before moving on to the decorating step.
- Mummy eyes can be made from mini discs of cheese and olive pieces. We don’t try to make them all the same or perfect; it’s nice for each mummy to have its own personality. Alternatively, we can create the eyes with two drops of ketchup or mustard. Serve accompanied by ketchup, mayonnaise or mustard, if liked.
- Serve with ketchup, mayonnaise or mustard if desired.
